I would usually say about a brewery’s anniversary that it’s hard to believe that they’ve been around for this long – but in the case of MadTree, it’s different. I look at the number 6, and it feels like these folks have been around for much longer. I mean that in the nicest way possible, too. When you look at what this city’s beer community looked like before and after MadTree opened their doors in 2013 it’s like we live in an entirely different city now.

MadTree has managed to create a brewery that others look to when they are looking for a brewery role model – and it’s not always about the size of what they’re doing there. MadTree has managed to create a company that sets the bar for community involvement, as well as defining what it means to treat employees well in an industry that doesn’t always put that high on their list of priorities.

We are lucky to have this brewery in our city – but this post isn’t just about touting why I love MadTree – it’s about telling you about the Winter Bonanza.

An Anniversary Party Doesn’t Cut It

From that first year, MadTree knew that they couldn’t just throw a simple anniversary party, and call it a day. They celebrate each year with an event that blows away other anniversary parties. They bring in music, guest taps, rare MadTree releases and more to create an event that all your friends will be talking about for a long time.

In the words of founder – and all around amazing guy Brady Duncan:

The winter bonanza is the time we get to share our love of craft and community. You get to drink some really creative beers, eat some amazing food while watching fantastic bands. It’s just really cool to see everyone coming together.

Let’s talk about this year’s event specifically to see if I can draw a clear picture for you.

The 2019 Bonanza

I know, I know. Even if MadTree is debuting the new packaging for Psychopathy, Lift and Shade at the event – you don’t want to spend a bonanza drinking the same old stuff you drink on any old weekend. You want something special, right? Assuming you’re not digging into their Scratch Mule cocktail, or their 42-mile cider – they’ll be pouring 50 beers to make sure there is something that gets your heart pumping. And guest drafts? Yeah – you can say they’ll have a few:

  • Branch and Bone Artisan Ales
  • Braxton
  • DogBerry
  • Fifty West
  • Fretboard
  • Grainworks
  • Jackie O’s
  • Listermann
  • Little Fish
  • Nine Giant
  • Rhinegeist
  • Rivertown
  • Streetside
  • The Common Beer Co
  • Urban Artifact
  • Warped Wing
  • Wiedemann
  • Yellow Springs Brewery

They’ll all be pouring some of their finest to keep your cup full. And if you get hungry, you know there’s going to be great food, too. Catch-A-Fire will be joined by the Beerded Pig, Empanadas Aqui, Red Sesame, and Sunny Side Brunch to make sure that there’s enough food to keep everyone full.

And the music that we mentioned?

  • 1-3pm – Queen City Silver Stars
  • 4-6pm – Blue Moon Soup
  • 7-9pm – Banners
  • 10-12:45 – DJ Fusemania

I’m tired even thinking about how crazy the day is going to be. Mark your calendar, start resting up because Saturday, February 16th is going to be here before you know it.

If you want to save yourself some time during the event itself, the brewery is wisely offering up a way for you to pre-purchase your beer tickets now so you can skip that line on the day of the event.
