All About Sam Adams
If I were to really use this page to tell you the full story of Sam Adams, we’d be here for a very long time. I won’t put you through that today (though, you can certainly find their story around the web if you’re interested). Our story starts here in Cincinnati because that’s what we do here.
Sam Adams saved brewing in this city when they bought the failing Hudepohl/Schoenling brewery in OTR back in the 90s. For that, we owe them some respect. But they didn’t become a ‘real’ Cincinnati brewery in a lot of people’s eyes until they opened their taproom and nano-brewery across the street from the production space.
What’s Sam Adams Like?
The brewhouse at the Sam Adams taproom isn’t the biggest, but it represents a lot when it comes to the larger idea of what Cincinnati means to the company. They put a lot of time, effort and love into creating a taproom space that filled the needs of the beer community, and they nailed it in my opinion.
The taproom space is warm, and comfortable – anchored by a big bar and some seating areas including a fireplace and some strategically placed porch swings. If you describe what you wanted a small taproom to look like… they hit all the criteria. You’ll find a wide variety of beer on tap, from the standards that are made across the street, to really fun one-off specialty brews that head brewer Chris Siegman makes right there in-house.

- 11/15/18 – The Sam Adams Taproom opens for business
- 11/15/19 – The brewery taps Utopias for the first time ever to celebrate their first anniversary.
