I know you like this part. The future is always fun when it comes to breweries. We love speculating about what’s coming down the road, and we love watching a new project come from an idea to an actual place where we can sit down and have a beer.
Things keep growing and evolving at what sometimes seems like an absolute breakneck speed, and it’s really tough to keep track of all the “in progress” projects around town—and that’s what this page is for.
Now that I’ve said all of that let’s talk about the disclaimer. This list isn’t even close to being comprehensive. I try my best to toe the line between talking about ideas that are exciting and only adding on projects that are actually going to happen. I hear about a lot of ideas that people are planning that never actually come to life – and it’s easy to fill a page with stuff like that and lose the ones that are actually happening in the middle of it.
Don’t let all of this stop you from reaching out to me, though. If you’re working on opening a brewery – please feel free to reach out to me and tell me your story. I’d love to share it with folks and would absolutely love to watch their journey as it unfolds for you!
The Completely Partial and Ever-Changing List of Coming Soon Cincinnati Breweries.
1842 Brewery – This is part of a huge, 22-million-dollar project down in Independence, Kentucky. The brewery will sit in a new mixed-use development and is part of One Holland’s move into the brewing industry after their opening of Barleycorn’s Brewhouse in Wilder, Kentucky.
Bad Tom Smith, Union Township – Bad Tom Smith has massive plans for a big production brewery/restaurant in Union Township (think Eastgate) – the project will be part of a new development that will also feature some other restaurants, residential units and an outdoor amphitheater. It looks like it’s gonna be wild!
Braxton Union – This new Braxton taproom is going to be a one-stop shop. It’s planned for new construction down in Union, KY – just down the road from the Braxton Drive that inspired the brewery (the childhood home of Jake and Evan). It will be built in conjunction with a new Graeter’s location, as well as a new Dewey’s location, deepening the relationship between the companies.
Fifty West Deerfield – This burger bar taproom is going to be great for the Deerfield area. They’re taking the model that has worked so well in their original Mariemont location and doing the same things up in Mason. Pickleball, Volleyball, Burgers and Beer – it’s a recipe that you hopefully already know and love! Their opening date has been set for 8/24 – so get ready!
Freedom Brewing – This project was announced alongside a pickleball location in Florence, Kentucky. The location is right outside the Florence Freedom baseball stadium and looks like it will be pretty amazing, but details have been sparse since it’s announcement in the summer of 2023.
Goodwood Brewing – There’s no secret that these guys are eying some expansion plans here in Cincinnati, and they have multiple taprooms rumored around the city – including two in NKY. The rumors that I’ve heard are that they might have changed some of their plans… but nothing official, yet!
Hearth Brewing – Coming to Harrison, Ohio – VERY soon, Hearth is creating a neighborhood space that will be perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Centered around a big fireplace, their taproom looks like it’s going to be a great space to grab a beer, food and hang out for the day!
MadTree, Parks and Rec – MadTree’s next taproom will go closer to their roots than ever before with a location right inside a park. Situated in Summit Park in Blue Ash, this space will bring everything you love about MadTree to the area, with a space that blends the outdoors with the indoors. Food, a big patio, plenty of seating… this place is going to be incredible.
Mellotone Beer Project – This one is pretty freaking exciting. Dennis Kramer-Wine (formerly of Rhinegeist) and Alex Nowell (formerly of Three Weavers) are taking over the Old Taft’s Ale House location in OTR. This converted church is three levels and is one of the most beautiful brewery buildings in the city. The beer community is expecting BIG things out of this spot – and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us!
Mind The Dog – This Dogpark/Brewery combination was announced as they were looking for some investment, but I haven’t heard much from them since. As details get nailed down (or don’t) – I’ll be sure to keep you updated.
Verge Brewing – Verge Brewing is looking to be right on… well… the Verge of something. They are looking at the west side of town (Price Hill) because they could help be a piece of the puzzle in revitalizing the area. The 10bbl system they are planning will go in a big space that offers up food and a place for the neighborhood to call its own (as well as to provide a destination for those looking to visit from other parts of town). This project is on hold for now because of the obvious chaos that hit in 2020. Keep your eye on them, and I’ll have more information as soon as it’s available!
West Sixth, Covington Haus – West Sixth finally announced a move from their Box Park taproom into a “real” space, coincidentally enough right over on West Sixth street in Covington. They’ll be taking over the space right underneath Second Story, an incredible cocktail bar, and opening up a full taproom and restaurant (no brewing on site, though) – it looks like it’s going to be a great addition to Covington!
