All About 13 Below Brewery
The name for 13 Below, along with its location, is all about the Ohio River. In “river talk” (meaning how Riverboats communicate), you can say that a position on the river is either ‘above’ or ‘below’ a landmark. If you see where we’re going with this, the brewery is 13 miles ‘below’ the city. It’s a great name. The brewery is very much about being part of the Cincinnati craft beer community while at the same time recognizing that they forging their own spot in an area that didn’t have much else going for it beer-wise.
They’re located in Sayler Park on the city’s west side, which is a part of town that has been a little behind some of the other neighborhoods in opening up craft breweries. The eight friends who opened the brewery together did so, hoping to bring the joy of beer to many more people who may not have it as readily available as they’d like.
What To Expect When You Visit 13 Below
13 Below is in a wide-open building with plenty of seating to cater to large crowds. If you pair that up with a big beer garden in the summer, it’s a space that is prime for you and all your friends and/or family to set up shop and hang out for a good deal of time to have a few beers.
The beer stretches the gamut of styles, with a nice lean towards easy-drinking beers that are still big in flavor. Nothing too crazy… there will undoubtedly be something for any type of drinker or any time of drinking mood you might be in when you stop by.
If you or your group get hungry while you’re grabbing a beer or three, you’ll be thrilled to see that the brewery partnered up with Incline Smoke Shack to provide barbecue that is some of my favorite in the city – which says a lot considering some of the great stuff we have available!
