Deck The Halls With Hops And Barley!
A gift brewed in the spirit of the season, this double dry hopped extra IPA lights up with bright citrus hop aroma and flavor with subtle notes of fresh pine reminiscent of the festive evergreen tradition. Jubilee is a hop-forward holiday treat, sure to make your celebration extra merry and bright.
I love winter beers… but sometimes you just want something… different. No, I’m not claiming that a big, piney, citrusy, hoppy, IPA is somehow a groundbreaking different beer – but in a season packed full of big stouts and spiced up winter ales – it certainly stands out a bit.
Braxton first released a small batch of this in cans in December of 2018, but quickly followed it up the next year with a full-scale batch. While the first batch didn’t leave the taproom, 2019 saw this one hit full distro into their footprint, making sure that all winter long we were able to grab a seasonal beer that talked a different game than what was next to it on the shelf.
My Thoughts On Braxton Jubilee
In my glass, Jubilee is a bright, golden amber color, with a heavy, sticky light tan head.
Aromas are big, citrusy grapefruit and just a hint of bread tucked away in there.
The taste is bold and bitter, with a nice danky-pine taste that smacks your palate from the very start. As the bitterness starts to back off, I get a lot of the citrus notes, with grapefruit standing big and tall. There are some really nice tropical fruits playing around in the background that linger as the taste fades.
I love a lot about this beer, from it’s placement in their seasonal lineup, to just the damn taste personality that it holds. It’s a great beer, and I’d be happy to drink a can of it any time of year!
