My household love the Cincinnati Zoo. Even if I didn’t have a ‘Little Gnome’ at home that was obsessed with it, I’m fairly certain the wife and I would still spend an insane amount of time there (beer in hand, of course). Our deep love for this fantastic piece of Cincinnati makes this a fun one to write for me.

Let’s start with the basics – you know Taste of Belgium, right? Lets start there. If you don’t know anything, or just don’t know enough about Taste of Belgium, don’t worry – I’ll have an in depth look at them coming to the blog soon. What you need to know is that they’re amazing. This is seriously one of my favorite places to grab breakfast in the entire city, and that says a lot considering how many great breakfast spots we’ve got. And for a hangover? It can’t easily be beat. They offer up authentic Belgium cuisine with a bit of a twist, and since starting in the back of a produce store in Findlay Market they’ve now grown to 4 different stores across the city… all doing something really spectacular.

About The Partnership

Now that we’re all on the same page about Taste of Belgium, we should talk about this partnership. They’re getting together with Delirium, one of Belgium’s most iconic beers to raise awareness (and funds) for the Cincinnati Zoo’s ‘More Home To Roam’ campaign.

If you don’t know Delirium, you probably have seen at least their logo in your favorite beer store – it’s that little pink elephant… are you starting to see how clever this all is? Each time you head to Taste of Belgium and grab yourself a glass of the beer in May, $1 will get donated to the campaign. On top of this, Taste of Belgium will be hosting multiple events throughout the month too including:

  • May 1st – Delirium Beer class at Taste of Belgium OTR
  • May 9th – Delirium tap takeover with special guest bartenders at Taste of Belgium Clifton
  • May 17th – Delirium Tap takeover at Taste of Belgium on the Banks
  • May 22nd – Delirium sponsored, Zoo themed trivia, courtesy of our friends from Last Call Trivia at our Rookwood location.
  • May 31st – Wrap party at our Clifton location

Also (yes, there’s more!) in addition to giving back to the zoo, each time a Taste of Belgium guest purchases a Delirium beer they’ll be entered into a drawing to win a Behind-The-Scenes experience with the elephants of the Cincinnati Zoo including helping the elephant keepers give them their morning baths. To top it all off, Taste of Belgium will also be selling chances for an all-expense paid trip for two to Belgium with proceeds benefitting the ‘More Home To Roam Campaign”.

The More Home To Roam campaign is about building a world where both wildlife and people can thrive. We hope people will support our mission to make a difference for wildlife and to preserve it for future generations. One of the exciting parts of the campaign includes a new elephant habitat, Elephant Trek, which will provide the Asian Elephants at the Zoo, nearly 5 times more space and allow them to develop a multi-generational herd.

Thane Maynard – Cincinnati Zoo Director

When the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden Announces their “More Home To Roam” Campaign last year, I knew we needed to do something, and do it big! The Cincinnati Zoo is one of the most beloved organizations in all of Cincinnati and seeing as they were raising money for the Elephant habitat, we had to get Delirium Tremens involved, I mean the bright pink elephant is one of the most recognizable logos in the bier world. Partnering with these two iconic brands has been an incredible honor and honestly, couldn’t be more fun! How could you not want to contribute to the Zoo when all you have to do is drink a delicious Delirium bier!
