It just isn’t summer without a few things that we’ve come to love. From the warm evenings around a bonfire with friends, to those hot afternoons next to a swimming pool. You can literally smell the sunscreen and burgers on a grill when you picture one of these afternoons.
Mt Healthy’s Fibonacci brewing knows how to embrace summertime, and they’ve got some really great stuff coming up that I thought you’d like to hear about, culminating in their annual mulberry harvest that has become a summertime staple for those “in the know”.
The Longest Day
The longest period of daylight is about as ‘Summer’ as you can get, and the brewery is celebrating with a day of fun stuff to ‘Summer it up’ in their own way. This Friday, June 21st is going to be a fun one
Not only will they have their usual suspects on tap, pouring up great beer for you to enjoy, but they’re releasing a few specialty treats that you won’t want to miss too.
- Compton Cream Ale
- Compton Cream Ale with Strawberries
- Compton Cream Ale with Sweet Thai Chili
- Hello World Mead Ale
They’ll have Astromomma on site doing tarot card readings, flower wreaths and some other surprises too.
Live music from the Davidsons on the front porch will pair up with Meatsons Barbecue who will be onsite.
The Farmer’s Market
I’ve neglected telling you guys about this because of my hectic life… but that needs to change because the farmer’s market that Fibonacci has put together is so brilliantly them – it should be shouted from the rooftops.
The next installment of this monthly event is July 7th from 11am-2pm and they’ll have vendors offering up stuff like: organic produce, farm fresh eggs, natural beef, chicken & lamb, maple syrup, goat milk soap, baked goods, herbs, flowers, kimchi, gourmet soups and salads, authentic Malaysian foods, stained glass and fused glass items, popcorn, alpaca dryer balls and more. Seriously… this is fun stuff for a place like Fib to finally put together!
Check out some of the vendors that will be there:
- Mount Healthy Square Mile Coffee Company
- Old Dutch Hop Farm
- Healthy Hills Farm
- Angie Tee’s Kitchen
- Tikkun Farm
- Chesapeake Popcorn
- Blossim Donuts
- Hilltop Glass Creations
The Mulberry Harvest
Finally (well…not finally, but the last thing that I’ve got time to talk about right now with you) is Fibonacci’s annual Mulberry Harvest. This is quickly becoming one of the big yearly Fibonacci traditions, especially if you live close to the brewery. To facilitate their yearly mulberry beer, the brewery turns to their community to ask that everyone harvest as many mulberries as they can from their own properties and bring them into the brewery. It takes a LOT of help to get together the 150 pounds that are needed for the beer to come to life.
To make it up to their fans for their hard work, the brewery hosts a cookout at the brewery on June 30th from noon-7pm. You can drop your mulberries off at the taproom anytime between now and then, and they’ll weigh each donation and award a $25 gift card to the person who brings in the most.
The story behind the large amount of mulberry tree’s in Mt. Healthy is a fun one, and a great showcase of the ties to their community that Fibonacci keeps alive so well.
Like I said… there’s a lot – but the point is pretty plain and simple – GET TO FIB!
