I wish I would have come up with this app… because I really love the idea. Toro started with an app that compiled all of the nightlife (events, bars, drink specials) into one convenient and easy to use app that lets you know exactly where you need to be, and what you need to be doing on any given evening.
They recently expanded the app’s reach down here into Cincinnati, and reached out to me to see if I’d give it a spin.
Here’s My Thoughts:
The Idea
On one hand, we live in a world now where it’s easy to get information about all the places that you wanna know about, quickly and accurately. Social media has changed how a business markets itself, and how events are shared with fans. That same ease of it all makes it impossible to weed through the stuff you are being bombarded with to find the things that you actually want to see.
It’s part of the same reason that this website has become so popular. I try to compile all that you need to know about drinking in Cincinnati and get it into one convenient spot for you to digest just what’s important.
Toro takes the bars that you like, that are near you, and focuses on the events that they know you want to see. With the quick tap of your finger you can immediately pull up a list of things happening right now, right by you. This is invaluable to both the businesses and the drinkers alike.
The Implementation
I’ve seen a lot of great idea that fall short when it comes time to actually put them into practice. And Toro is a big enough idea that it’s easy to do that. They nailed it though. The app is easy, good looking and free to use. It’s a platform that has a TON of potential to keep growing with some other ideas in the future, and as long as that’s all integrated as smoothly as their features currently have been, things are gonna keep going great for them.
Look this one up on the App Store – or wherever you get your apps, and give it a try. Discover someplace new this weekend!
