Cider seems to be beer’s forgotten brother. It was just a couple of years ago that it started to flourish, before the new kid in town – Seltzer – seems to have stolen all its thunder. I’m not blaming seltzer, it isn’t its fault. I’m also not claiming that these two beverages are anything alike – but I do think that if it weren’t for the rise of Seltzer, we’d have a lot more great ciders happening around Cincinnati.

There have been a few places in town that have stuck up for Cider, maybe none more loudly than Rhinegeist (who by the way… has still resisted the urge to make a seltzer… for now). The brewery has not only kept cranking out ciders over the years, they also recently rebranded their line (it’s called Cidergeist). These guys love cider, and it shows in the fun products they make.
They also love to showcase their ciders. This weekend is part of that showcase, it’s a celebration… meet the cider social.
About The Cider Social
It all kicks off this Friday (September 24th) and continues through the weekend until Sunday (September 26th). The brewery will be featuring a fun selection of draft ciders, cider flights, cocktails, music, games and prizes all throughout the weekend.
If you make your way down to the OTR taproom, you’ll have plenty of reasons to grab one of their ciders, either on tap or in a six pack to take home.
They’ll have $6 flights of cider for you to sip on, with your choice of four of their available draft ciders:
- Zappy
- Beezy
- Swizzle
- Snug
- Friends
- Manilla
If you decide to grab a six pack on your way out the door, you’ll also get 10% off your entire merchandise order.
They’ll have cider themed cocktails, fall decor all over the taproom, a selfie station, and pumpkin tic tac toe. They’re even going to have actual rope swings in the taproom.
This is the perfect event (You can find the event on their website here) if you’re a cider nut, or even if you have no idea what the cider craze is all about and you’re curious to learn more. I respect the heck out of Rhinegeist for keeping their cider line going strong, improving it over the years and throwing events like this to help bring awareness to something that not nearly enough people know about!
