I know that the term social influencer has a stigma around it – don’t worry, those of us here in Cincinnati who spend way too much time on Instagram feel the same way about it, too. None of us like the term, and that’s a big part of why we thought it would be fun to get together and have couple of beers and talk about it.
We got together and Streetside, and as these things tend to go – we ended up making a beer.
Ok… it’s a little more complicated than that…
How This Came Together
Everyone that is involved in this project loves this city – we love all that Cincinnati has to offer, and absolutely LOVE sharing it with folks via Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Blogs… heck, some of us just stand outside yelling about things hoping that our neighbors are listening (sorry, Archie and Betty… but you did hear about Dark Charge, right?)
We wanted to get as many of these folks together, drink a few beers and do something that was a little bit… different. Not that collaborations are new, or that you can come up with a beer that has never been done before – but we wanted to showcase each other. We wanted to showcase a brewery that is kicking serious butt on social media, brewing up insanely great beer and let people know that it might be ok to shamelessly plug the stuff that you are in love with.
If you influence someone… that’s a good thing.
Luckily for us, the folks over at Streetside shared our vision, and agreed that we could come, spend way too much time in their brewery bugging them about goofy beer ideas and create something that is pure fun.
If we can influence anything here… we want you to come hang out with us this weekend (12/11) and have a couple beers and let us know what you love about this city. That’s the real reason we did all of this, to share a mutual love for Cincinnati, and all the little pieces of it that make it so freaking amazing.
About The Beer
I wish we had videotaped (sorry… I’m dating myself there… video recorded?) the meetings that led up to this collaboration. We worked our butts off coming up with beer styles that not only sounded like they’d be fun, but that fit the ”Cincinnati vibe” that we wanted to showcase – and that also were decidedly Streetside in their personality.
We went back and forth, over and over before settling on a Pastry Brown Ale… with Waffles.
We wanted something big, bold and different than anything else. It’s definitely stout season in Cincinnati right now, but we didn’t just want to make another stout that would get lost in the shuffle. We wanted to create a beer that made you laugh a bit, be curious, and 100% be excited to try it.
I think we nailed it, too.
About The Release Event
The beer is being tapped next Saturday, December 11th first thing in the morning. The doors to Streetside open at 10am, and you should definitely show up early. We’re hoping to pack the taproom at Streetside full of smiling faces, and you’re definitely a big part of that!
Not only will there be the beer… but the Black Dog Grille is going to be serving up some fun waffle themed stuff for you to fill your belly (I did tell you that this is a BIG beer, right?).
Of course, there will also be a bunch of really fun people there, too. We’ll be doing live podcasts, streaming on social media, and taking a TON of pictures along the way. If you’ve ever been curious to see how all of this works – it’s a great time to get out and talk to some really smart folks who know their way around social media.
Get there – say hi – drink a beer with us!
