Brewery – Rhinegeist
Beer – Juicy Truth
Style – Hazy/Juicy IPA
ABV – 6.5%
Some Truths are juicier than others… Brewed to unleash the bright, tropical aromas of the (generous) hop bill, this Hazy IPA is brimming with pineapple, mango and citrus notes. Log off, catch the wave, enjoy.
It’s a big deal for Rhinegeist to let another beer take on the name of their flagship, Truth. It needs to be a beer that means business – and I think that Juicy Truth is definitely worthy of the namesake.
The brewery has spent years experimenting with Hazy/Juicy IPAs darting in and out of different ideas, hop bills, and flavor combinations before this one stood out above the rest as a drink that is worthy. Year-round… tropical, juicy… delicious. You’re going to like this one!
Cans and draft of Juicy Truth first his shelves and tap handles around Cincinnati at the very beginning of 2023 and I have to tell you – it’s a heck of a way to start off a new year. The cans take on some of the familiar green colors of big-brother Truth but bring in a swirling yellow/golden design to the artwork to let you know that while it might be a little familiar this beer is a whole new story to be told.
My Thoughts On Rhinegeist’s Juicy Truth
When you pour Juicy Truth into your glass you’re greeted by a bright yellow beer with a big fluffy white head. If you really get your face in there you can see that in the deepest parts of the beer, the yellow gives way to a beautiful orange hint of color. The beer is hazy, like a yellow cloud – not murky… just soft cloudy hazy that can only be described as ‘fluffy’.
The fluffiness continues as you let the beer hit your mouth. Fluffy clouds of tropical flavor overwhelm your tastebuds. The beer is big, like regular truth, but not in a brash way. Instead, Juicy Truth uses soft mango flavors to lure you in before drifting off into a citrus pop. As you work your way through a pint glass – you find yourself realizing that the beer isn’t all soft and fruity – there is a distinctive snap in the background, maybe a boozy bite that pushes back against the softness.
This beer is absolutely delicious, and one that will definitely find its way into my fridge fairly often – even amongst the other incredible IPAs and Double IPAs that Rhinegeist likes to dot onto the shelves around us.
Disclaimer: This beer was a sample provided to me from the folks at Rhinegeist – while I didn’t pay for it, that doesn’t change my thoughts or opinions on the beer itself.
