The Blue Goose Is Easy, Affordable, And Delicious – What More Can You Ask For?

The Blue Goose was opened in 2005 with a concept that they call “sports casual” – which kind of nails it. This is the type of place that you can certainly go to watch the game, but that also works if you want to grab lunch or dinner with your family, too. It’s not an in-your-face “bar” like a lot of places are, and it isn’t as loud as some sports bars can get.

The Blue Goose Experience

Walking into the Blue Goose for the first time, I wasn’t sure what to expect – and it took me a minute to figure out what I was walking into because it was so dark inside. Once my eyes adjusted, I figured out quickly that this wasn’t just your standard bar.

The restaurant is split up nicely, so if you want to separate yourself from those who are hanging out at the bar, it’s not hard to do. Of course, I sit at the bar.

The big wooden bar dominates the side of the restaurant. There is a nice mix of both booths, high and low tops scattered around it, but the bar itself is the focus. Behind the big U-shaped bar is a small liquor selection and a small but well-mixed choice of draft beer. This is a space that immediately reminds you of any “casual” bar and grille that you’ve been in.

What Are You Drinking and Eating?

While I assume that most of the drinks that are being passed over the bar of The Blue Goose are pretty much the standard macro beers or simple shots – they seem to have a decent selection of whiskey if you’re looking for something with a little more kick to it.

I get the impression that whatever you order, they aren’t going to blink an eye and will be willing to do their best, even if they aren’t able to make some crazy craft cocktail that you’re looking for.

The menu is pretty comprehensive, which is not what I was expecting before walking in for the first time. They have soups, salads, sandwiches, and burgers for a great lunch option. A kids menu and a dinner menu that has stuff like ribs, steak, and smothered chicken round things out.

This isn’t just a neighborhood bar, this sort of defines what it means to be a neighborhood bar and grille.

Why I Love The Blue Goose

I fell in love with The Blue Goose because of its food menu. It’s not the most insane selection, and it’s nothing that will make some food critic blow their stack—but it’s good.

As someone who is always on the hunt for fun places to grab lunch during the week when I’m out and about, this place always falls towards the top of my list when I’m close by. Delicious, easy, affordable… what more can you ask for?
