MVP Tries To Do It All… And Actually Kind Of Does.

Sports Bar? Yeah, MVP is a sports bar. Live music venue? Yep… it’s that, too. It’s also a neighborhood bar that might make you want to move closer to Silverton. MVP is freaking wild, and I say that in a “there’s a lot packed under one roof” kind of way.
This place is an anomaly…it’s not the “best” bar I’ve ever been to, by any stretch, but it’s exactly what I want a place like this to be.
What To Expect
Walking in the door, you can see exactly what the bar is about. The big bar stretches along the right side of the room, and down at the far end of the room is a large stage for live music. It’s apparent when you look at the space that while this is a definite sports bar, it’s also designed to have a strong personality revolving around live music.
The bar has had a few names over the years, but its dedication to live music is extremely important in every aspect of its evolving personality. If someone asked me what type of place MVP is, I’d very clearly tell them that it’s a live music venue with the daytime personality of a sports bar.
You can hang out for dinner, watch a little bit of your favorite team, and then wrap up your evening with your friends watching live music. It not only “works” but feels perfect when you’re there.
So, What Are We Eating Or Drinking?
While I’m always going to continue at MVPs for something over-the-top, either on the food or drink side of things, what they do, they do well. The food menu has everything from flatbreads to sandwiches and salads. The real star of the menu is their fun selection of nachos and tater tots; both come loaded with all sorts of toppings… and if you’re a fan of what I call “drinking food” – you’ll be in absolute heaven.
The drink side leans towards the standard macro products that you’ll find in many sports bars and music venues… but wait to order your beer until you’ve looked around. There are always a few excellent craft beer taps available. When it comes to spirits and cocktails – I don’t know that I’m ordering a Ramos Gin Fizz any time soon… but I’d get a pour of a middle-of-the-road whiskey to take the edge off after a long day.
Finding Your Spot
MVP is fascinating to me. It has a party room for big groups and a kids’ menu, and it is also “dive bar enough” to be a great daytime spot if you want to snag a beer. It’s a sports bar, a local restaurant, and a music venue, and rarely can a bar try to cram so much into who it is without it all being done really badly.
From the outside it might look like a standard bar and grille, but if you spend a little time getting to know the place, I think you’ll figure out pretty quickly that it’s a lot more than that.
