I’m not complaining, but when you’re like me, you spend a lot of time walking into bars, not knowing what is in store for you. I’ve been in some pretty shady places, some filthy bars. I’ve felt extremely unwelcome at times, like an outsider, I suppose. It comes with the territory, and that mystery of not knowing what you’re about to walk into is part of the fun for me.

I tell you all of this because once you get a good picture of those types of places, you can get a picture of how much of the complete opposite The Bramble Patch is.

A Long History Makes For A Unique Place

The Bramble Patch is a local bar with a long history. It’s been a staple of Madisonville for more than 70 years. Its had a bunch of names in that time: The Woodchuck, Jake and Howards, Kasee’s, and with every name came new owners, each putting their stamp on its personality.

The neighborhood around the bar has continued to change; with it, the clientele changes. The world around us doesn’t ever stop – and yet somehow… The Bramble Patch has found a way to change while keeping its personality intact.

The Experience

The first time I walked into the Bramble Patch, like many bars that I visit, it came highly recommended. It’s the type of place that people go to for their whole lives – watching football games, celebrating life’s wins, mourning the losses. It’s not just a bar – it’s part of the fabric of the community. Stepping in the door, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a smile and was brought right into the conversation that was going on. I live for this type of spot.

I imagine that if, while you were sitting at the bar, the fabric of time suddenly tore itself to shreds and you were transported back to any other point in the bar’s life, things wouldn’t be all that different.

Other than the over-the-top friendliness, I was struck by the bar’s cleanliness. You can tell that the folks who own the Bramble Patch and the people they trust to run it daily care about it like you would your own home.

What Are You Drinking

If all that isn’t enough, you’ll be happy to hear that the selection is great regarding what you’re putting in your glass. While I wouldn’t call it a “craft beer bar,” – it seems like every time I’ve been there, they have some great craft available.

They keep the standards behind the bar if you’re looking for spirits. You won’t find a bunch of rare bourbons or crazy syrups and fresh citrus for cocktails. It’s a solid, “normal” selection to ensure no one is left behind when ordering.

Almost anyone will find something that makes them happy – and that’s, again, the whole point.

Like any bar, you shouldn’t just take my word for it – you should visit. You’ll thank me later.

If you want to check out The Bramble Patch, you can find it at 6768 Bramble Ave in Madisonville
