It’s been happening for 17 years now, and if you’re one of those Greater Cincinnati beer drinkers who hasn’t made the trip up for Oxford’s Wine and Craft Beer Festival – I implore you to change that for this year’s event, which happens on May 31, 2025.
I get it. For a lot of folks, Oxford is a bit of a haul – it turns it into a full day trip for some of you that weekend – and if you ask me… that’s sort of the point. Spend your time there. Aside from the hectic chaos of Miami University, when the students are there, there are some really cool things happening in Oxford that you have to check out.
Maybe this will give you the chance to do just that.
Misrule Brewing
Misrule is years in the making. They’ve been collaborating with other local breweries and planning on this concept for a LONG time, and finally have a taproom space right in Oxford on High Street. I know that a lot of this city’s beer fans haven’t been there, yet – heck… I haven’t been there yet (hopefully that’s changed by the time you read this) and I’m OBSESSED with this stuff.
They opened their doors in early April of this year, and while I can come up with all sorts of excuses for someone to swing by and have a beer, being in town for a festival is pretty much the perfect one.
Steinkeller
There is no way that I can write about Oxford, Ohio, without giving a high five and a shoutout to one of my favorite bars in Greater Cincinnati, Steinkeller. I’ve written about them before… but if you weren’t paying attention, and still haven’t been for a stein or two – I think it’s time to remedy that.
It’s a German restaurant, a beer hall, tucked away in a basement that makes you feel like you’re thousands of miles away from Oxford, Ohio. A trip to Steins makes you so grateful that we have a gem like this… and so desperate to make your visits more frequent.
This Year’s Festival
As mentioned earlier, this year’s festival takes place on May 31st and will run from 2-10 pm that day. For the second year in a row, they’ll be shutting down High Street, which absolutely transforms the city and the park downtown into a haven for drinkers and their families to spend the day.
There really isn’t a better way to kick off the summer than with a festival like this.
You’ll find a beer garden packed full of tons of really spectacular local beer, including beers from:
- Brink
- Cartridge
- Sonder
- Misrule
- Third Eye
- Swine City
- Bushrod (they’re up in Eaton)
- Taft’s
It certainly wouldn’t be a WINE and beer festival, though, without some great wine to go along with that, right? You’ll find:
- Hanover Winery
- Olde Schoolhouse Winery
- Vintage Winery
As well as some other wine offerings from Heidelberg will be there, too.
With live entertainment all day, a kids area to keep the family happy, more than 30 local artisan vendors and over a dozen food vendors right on site (Graeter’s, Holey Donuts!, Schmidts Sausage, Just Jerks, Loaded Goat Cafe, Jollys, Sorriso Pizza By The Slice… and more) – there’s a lot to keep you busy!
Go. Enjoy. Be Gnarly and Tell ’em that The Gnome sent you.
