Fifty West and Yellow Springs have a pretty spectacular history of partnering up on the beer side of things (Quad Bro Quo, anyone?) – but this new idea between the two breweries is right in line with another big part of Fifty West’s personality, their outdoor lifestyle brand.
The brewery has spent a lot of time over the last couple of years letting their fans know that beer isn’t just about the actual beverage, it’s about the experiences that go along with beer, and their campus incorporates so many different things, that it’s easy to get wrapped up in something when you’re there.
The brewery has volleyball, canoe/kayaking, running groups and more in the vein of what this post is about… bike riding.
The Idea
With the campus sitting right along the bike trail it’s easy to see that you can ride your bike over to Narrow Path… or Little Miami Brewing. What if, though, you’re really determined? Could you bike all the way up to Cellar Dweller in Morrow? It’s a fun idea. The brewery was having a few beers with their friends over at Yellow Springs when an even bigger idea came up. I mean… they’re along the trail too… could a group of people bike from Fifty West to Yellow Springs?
We’re Gonna Find Out.
The breweries have united under a mutual love for both craft beer and bikes. This epic brewery to brewery tour is an organized ride along the beautiful Little Miami Scenic Trail – fueled by not just rider’s own two feet, but by the promise of cold beer, and a good meal at the finish line.
The Details
The ride takes place on Saturday, September 21st, with check-ins starting at 8am and the ride leaving at 8:30am. The expected pace is going to be around 6 hours, and the two groups will meet in the middle at Tom’s Market deli near Caesar’s Creek for lunch.
You can ride from Yellow Springs down to Fifty, or from Fifty down to Yellow Springs, but either way, it’s a daunting task. I’m going to guess it’s around 70 miles or so… not for the faint of heart. If you complete your journey, though, you’ll be met with high fives, a commemorative 2019 Tour de Brewery patch, a congratulatory pint of beer and a well deserved meal.
