Big Dog’s Pizza Opens In Grainworks

For all of you who have been patiently waiting, Big Dog’s Pizza finally has a grand opening date inside of Grainworks Brewing Company in West Chester. Starting this Friday, August 16th, you can get a slice with your pint, and honestly, it couldn’t come at a better time as they gear up for their Oktoberfest celebration this weekend in the taproom.
Who’s Big Dog’s, And Why Should You Be Excited?
Big Dog’s isn’t anything “new” to the folks of West Chester. The restaurant’s original location was just a few miles down the street, and had been operating since 1997. I hope that I don’t need to explain to you the importance of a pizza place to families. These local pizza restaurants do more than just feed folks… the provide easy, quick food on those nights that you just don’t have the time or energy to feed your family. They are the gathering spot after school sports, the celebration spot, the gathering place. Local pizza restaurants like Big Dogs have ingrained themselves into the memories of people as they grow up.
That’s why this addition to Grainworks is so wonderful.
I am a big believer in breweries becoming a very similar piece of our core memories. They aren’t just a place for beer fans like you and me to grab a tasty drink, they are a part of the community around them. I hope that this addition of Big Dogs into the taproom only continues to grow that idea more than it already has.
What To Expect
If you ever visited the previous location on Cincinnati Dayton rd, this new spot will immediately feel familiar. They brought a lot of the decorations that gave their space so much personality with them, including the train that runs along the top of their kitchen space in the taproom.
All of the signature pizzas that you fell in love with at Big Dogs are still there – the Bacon Cheeseburger, the Chicken Teriyaki, or my favorite, ‘The Meat’. In addition, they’ll have hoagies, calzones and sandwiches if you’re not in a pizza mood, or if you know me and how I get excited about these things: Wings. Those famous wings that folks have been raving about will be making their debut at Grainworks, too.
The Grand Opening Weekend
Like I mentioned earlier, the restaurant will be kicking their doors open this Friday, 8/16 and will be open all weekend long to celebrate. In addition to live music on Friday night, it’s Oktobefest weekend at Grainworks – so things will be hoppin’ on Saturday, too.
They’re tapping their Oktoberfest beer, and then starting at 2pm they’ll have all sort fun, like a steinholding competition, a stein slide competition – and live music starting at 3pm.
A portion of all the beer sales (and participation in the competitions) will go towards ‘Reach Out Lakota’ the local food and clothing pantry. It sounds like a great excuse to hang out, drink some Marzen and celebrate the grand opening of Big Dogs!
