All About Taft’s
The story of Taft’s really starts in the Old St. Paul’s German Evangelical Protestant Church. If you had seen the church prior to 2011, you would barely recognize it from today (it’s now the home to Taft’s Brewpub). It was scheduled for demolition and it was saved by 3CDC in an attempt to preserve it’s historical significance. The building dates back to 1850, and made an incredible space for Taft’s to call home when they were looking to open their doors in Cincinnati.
The brewery has continued to grow since opening back in 2015 with the addition of a production facility and second taproom in 2017 as well as a taproom in Columbus in 2019.
What’s Taft’s Like?
Taft’s has a couple distinct personalities depending on where you find yourself drinking a beer. If you’re in their Brewpub on Race Street, you might feel like you stepped back in time, their classy taproom/restaurant is gorgeous. Lots of dark wood and light tile work dominate the space. There are three bars in the building, and each one provides a different atmosphere.
The Brewpourium in Spring Grove Village is more laid back, serving some amazing pizza and the signature Taft’s beers that you love. Hidden behind the taproom is a MASSIVE production space that provides the beer for all their distribution and for their Columbus location as well.
The brewery makes a wide range of styles, from traditional lagers to the adjunct laden trendy craft gems that nerds today have fallen deeply in love with. No matter what your taste might be, there is something to make you happy at any Taft’s location that you find yourself in.
