Beer- Pure Lager
Brewed for greatness and aged for smoothness, Hudepohl Pure Lager from “America’s Great Small Brewery” is inspired by the strict standards of the Reinheitsgebot German Purity Law, using only the finest malt, hops, yeast, and water.
Like a refreshing taste of what lagers might have been like in Cincinnati pre-prohibition, the Pure Lager from Hudepohl is a glass of refreshing smooth lager that finds it’s way into my beer fridge on a regular basis now. The nose of this is light cereal with a floral hint. The taste of the beer is a refreshing caramel sitting under a fresh sweet breadiness and just a slight bitter floral hoppy note on top of it all.
There is a time and a place for all beers, we’ve all heard that said before… and this is an affordable lager brewed in Reinheitsgebot tradition that has a major place in the Cincinnati market. I cannot express enough that even if you don’t like other beers in it’s “class” you need to give this a try. Very well done and I believe a step up from it’s Amber lager predecessor, the Hudepohl Amber Lager.
Available year round, this is a go-to for a lot of people in Cincinnati now. Bravo!

Gnarly Gnome your review of Hudepohl Pure Lager is so on target, What can I say? Sometimes I think the craft beer crowd does not know what truly good beer is! As John Keeling of Fuller’s Brewery, London, famously said: “To me there is only 2 kinds of beer. Beers I like and beers I don’t.”
Hudepohl Pure Lager is always welcome in my house.
