Cincinnati’s culture is rooted in beer and the arts, so it made sense to bring the two together.  For nearly a century, ArtsWave has supported the arts community that helps make Cincinnati amazing.  With gifts from tens of thousands of people each year, we fuel the impact of more than 100 arts organizations, including Cincinnati’s oldest and largest arts institutions and its up and coming smaller ones.  We believe in the power of the arts to enliven our neighborhoods and depend people’s roots in our community.  Beer and art are best when shared – thank you for sharing in our mission.  Cheers!

This is a dance between a beer and a ginger ale, and I mean that in a good way.  This beer is all about the ginger addition, powerful from the first sniff of its aroma to the last sip of its delicious liquid.

I don’t think I can write about this without mentioning that it’s a collaboration, not only between Blank Slate and Listermann, but between the breweries and the ArtsWave charity – hats off for the minds behind this brew thinking of something that could pull both the arts and beer together, and using the analogy of them being the “roots” of Cincinnati is fantastic.

My Thoughts On Listermann/Blank Slate Roots

The beer pours a reddish copper color with a small tan head on it.

The aromas of the beer are full of tons of spice… its aroma reminds me of baking, and the scents that would drift from the kitchen on a day full of cookies and bread baking.

Taste is like a warm ginger-snap, but it somehow retains that “beer quality” that I prefer.  Full of ginger spice, but not too in your face about it, this beer is a work of art.  There is smooth, easy carbonation and a slick, light mouthfeel that really supports the spice profile.  I think that this beer would really shine when paired with some great Asian food.
