Brewery – New Belgium
Beer – VooDoo Ranger 8 Hop
Style – Pale Ale

Brilliantly balanced for easy drinking, this pale ale is packed with citrus and tropical fruit flavors from eight different hop varieties.
Sometimes, just one hop isn’t enough for a Pale Ale. New Belgium showed this philosophy off with their VooDoo Ranger 8 Hop Pale Ale, and did so in a way that might have me convinced. The combined the powers of:
- Nugget
- Cascade
- Centennial
- Nelson Sauvin
- Amarillo
- Mosaic
- Simcoe
- Citra
What we get is a fruity, tropical pale ale that I was honestly surprised didn’t have a fruit addition when I first tasted it.
This year round addition the New Belgium Lineup goes to show you that you don’t always have to the biggest, baddest IPA on the block to turn some heads. I can tell you that when it first debuted the the very end of 2016 I was only slightly interested, but once it hit my glass I was convinced.
My Thoughts On New Belgium VooDoo Ranger 8 Hop Pale Ale
In the glass, the beer is a clear amber/orange color with a big fluffy offwhite head on top.
I mentioned the fruitiness before, and you start to get your first glimpse of this in the aroma of the beer, with lots of tropical fruit notes are balanced by a light breadiness.
The taste is full on fruit. There is a really bright, fresh tropical fruit note that sits right next to a berry taste. If you’re a fan of the fruited IPA craze, but looking for something a little lighter and easily sessionable, this might be your new go-to. It’s great!
