Listermann Brewing Company has always gone big when it comes to packaging releases, in fact I’m fairly certain that they’ve blown far past anyone else in town for amount of different beers released in packaging.  This year, though, has taken it to a whole new level even for them, and that means that it’s only fitting for them to wrap the year up with a few big release days.  You might want to get your calendar out before you dig into this post, you’re going to want to block out a few days in a minute.

Friday, November 17th – 5pm

  • Thank You – NE IPA

This beer is a collaboration with Mitch Heldebrandt (the goalie for FC Cincinnati) to create a beer that is dedicated to the troops. 10% of all the proceeds from this beer will go towards Tee It Up For The Troops Inc, an organization that helps wounded veterans cope with combat injury through golf.  From the organization itself:

“We focus our fund raising efforts toward an immediate impact for veterans and their families at both the local and national level.  We offer an EMOTIONAL experience for those in attendance at our golf events — veterans, golfers, volunteers, sponsors and the general public.  We target our efforts across the most pressing areas of need (physical, psychological and emotional) – with priority emphasis in supporting PTS research and treatment, suicide prevention, employment, rehabilitation, and athletics equipment and services.

Our approach is to facilitate and serve:  We provide a “Tournament in a Box” event playbook and tournament coordination support to empower local chapters and volunteers.  We are a grass roots organization that has a profound impact on not only individual veterans and their families, but on organizations that are helping those individuals.  We are a national organization that generates awareness and support for our primary beneficiaries – Fisher House, Disabled Sports USA, and Hope for the Warriors.  We are efficient in our governance – less than 14% of our proceeds goes to organizational overhead.”

The beer is 6.8% ABV and is hopped with Apollo, Galaxy and Simcoe hops.  It will be available in 4 packs and on draft starting at 5pm on Friday the 17th.

Friday, November 24th – 8am

  • Imperial Nutcase
  • Imperial Marshmallow Fluff Nutcase
  • Slice of Pie – Pecan Pie Stout
  • Freedom Toast – Barrel Aged French Toast Stout
  • Mystery Bottle

The Black Friday release at MadTree is also going to be their final bottle release for 2017 (unless they decide to throw a surprise in there for us in December…) and it’s going to be a doozie.  Five different bottles will be released, with the mystery one being something that has been aged in barrels for 3+ years according to the brewery.  It’s going to be pretty limited, with only 100 of the bottles being released.

The brewery is saying that they’re going to give us some more details as the event gets closer… so keep your eye on this one!

Friday, December 1st – 5pm

  • Double Dry Hopped Biggie
  • Double Dry Hopped Pac

You remember these guys, right?  Not the rappers, but the beers.  This was the point for me that I think people really started to understand what Listermann was going for with these monthly can releases – it only seems fitting that they’d eventually make their way back into another release.  This time, though, they’ve been kicked up a notch.

East Coast vs West Coast.  The monthly release was moved up a day because of the crosstown shootout, but they’re going to be throwing a shootout of their own anyways.  Biggie is hoped with Citra, Amarillo and Mosaic – while Pac is Citra, Simcoe and Centennial.  I really enjoyed both of these beers last time, so I’m chomping at the bit to get ahold of these new versions!
