We’ve been having a lot of talk about Cincinnati turning itself into a beer destination over the last couple weeks.  From the news that Rhinegeist is now one of the biggest breweries in the country, to the announcement that Sam Adams is going to be opening a taproom near their OTR brewery it seems like what used to be just a collection of local news stories and the occasional regional mention is becoming a bigger and bigger story now.  The timing for this 7 cities Untappd promotion is perfect in that regard.

What’s The 7 Cities Promotion?

Untappd announced this promotion back at the beginning of March.  The concept was simple.  The popular beer check-in/rating application would host seven different parties, at seven different venues, in seven different cities in April.  The winning cities and venues would be decided by who had the most check-ins to verified venues in the city.  Each party would be hosted at whatever verified venue got the most check-ins that month.

If you haven’t heard yet – Cincinnati kicked ass, and came out as one of the top 7, which means that this week MadTree is going to be hosting the second party of the weeklong extravaganza.  Out of the 68 verified venues in Cincinnati, they proved that not only users of Untappd in Cincinnati like to  drink beer… they really like to do it at MadTree.

About The Celebration At MadTree

It all goes down at MadTree this Thursday, April 12th from 6-9pm.  One of Untappd’s founders, Greg Avola will be on hand to meet fans of the app, as well as give out t-shirts, stickers and other swag – but it’s no party without some fun beer tappings… right?  That’s where MadTree steps in.

The brewery is tapping some specialty barrel aged beers:

  • Bourbon Barrel Aged Ye Olde Battering Ram
  • Bourbon Barrel Aged Are You Ready For Some Darkness
  • Boysen The Wood
  • Sequoia’s Gift
  • And More!!

They’re also going to hook up the first 100 people at 6pm with a new 10oz stemless snifter glass.

The party is going to be fun… and you should probably do your best to get there.  However… if you can’t make it stay tuned, we’re going to be recording an episode of Cincy Brewcast that night – and we’ll fire it up live to  give you a chance to ask any questions that you might have during the show.  Make sure you’re flowing The Gnarly Gnome and Cincy Brewcast on all your favorite social media platforms, because I have no idea where I’ll decide to broadcast it from.
