Every year for their anniversary we get something really exciting from Nine Giant, something that enables us to share their delicious beer with our much lamer friends who have still refused to get over to the pleasant ridge brewpub. I’m talking about bottles.
I’ve been slacking a little bit with my Cincy Beer blogging duties, and haven’t filled you in on what has been a week of fun beer tappings and great new (and returning favorite) food from their scratch kitchen, but couldn’t let this week go by without at least reminding you that they have some really fun things dropping on Saturday to mark the occasion.
The Beer Tappings
Like I mentioned…. this week has been packed full of really fun and creative tappings from the brewery side of things. They have already let loose on a couple new beers, and with things continuing through the weekend, there’s still plenty of time for you to swing over and grab a drink or two to help these guys celebrate.
Here’s what I’m talking about:
- Tuesday – Grapefruit/Habanero Repeater – West Coast IPA
- Wednesday – ‘I Like Beer’ with Cherry and Pineapple – Rye Blond
- Thursday – ‘Killer Whales’ Bourbon Barrel Aged Belgian Dark Strong Ale.
- Friday – ‘A Ghost Is Born’ Cherry Chocolate Chipotle Imperial Stout
- Friday – ‘Pass The Mic’ Banana Split Pale Ale
- Saturday – ‘A Ghost Is Born’ Chocolate Coconut Imperial Stout
- Saturday – ‘Metatron’ Mango New England IPA
- Sunday – ‘Very Emergency – Watermelon Margaritas
- Sunday – ‘Very Emergency – Watermelon, Cucumber Key Lime Berliner
The Food
I’d be insane if I neglected to mention to you some of the food that you can get your hands on in addition to the beer. After all, it really wouldn’t be fitting for Nine Giant to celebrate without something awesome coming out of the kitchen too, right?
While whatever night you choose to hit them up you can be sure you’ll get your grubby paws on something really delicious, Saturday is a fun one – they’re doing a Mexican food takeover to go alongside their bottle release (I’ll get to that in just a minute). This takeover is a whole new menu that they’re dubbing ‘Nueve Gigante’ and it sounds amazing:
- Chips and Queso
- Chips and Guac
- Carnitas Taquitos
- Scallop Ceviche
- Carnitas Tacos
- Skirt Steak Tacos
- Fried Shrimp Tacos
- Posole Verde
- Quesadillas
- Chimichangas
Right? Yeah… Awesome.
The Bottle Release
Like I mentioned before, Saturday is also going to be host to their second ever bottle release out of Nine Giant. This years anniversary release is of their Double ImPeachMint Apricot Peach Mint Gose, and more specifically of four really limited and awesome sounding variants. They’re going to have 50-60 bottles of each variant, and will limit them to one per person at $15 per each 750ml bottle.
The variants? I thought that you’d never ask:
- Pineapple
- Guava
- Passion Fruit
- Lychee
This lineup steps it up with a full lineup of delicious tropically fruity awesomeness that takes things in the completely opposite direction than the brewery did with last years barrel aged Barleywine and Imperial Stouts – and I’m excited. From what I have heard, the base gose is pretty awesome, with the mint really popping and providing a nice accent in the otherwise massively fruity beer.
I need this in my life!
What’s Next For Nine Giant
The next year is going to be a big one for Nine Giant, with them working hard on getting their much needed expansion, dubbed the Fermentorium, open to their thirsty fans. (Read More About The Expansion). Pleasant Ridge and it’s neighboring communities continue to keep growing and it only means more and more of you are finally discovering what a gem this place is.
Stay tuned, and keep a close eye on these guys!
