We’ve seen a few changes to the branding of our locally produced packaged beer lately. The beer industry has changed since a lot of these folks have opened, and they’re evolving and changing what they look like to match up with that shift.

Rhinegeist is getting in on the evolution with their barrel aged bottles soon it would seem. I’ve been watching lately as the new labels have started to roll out thought the TTB, and I think you’re going to like what they’ve done.

Consider yourself prepped for the shift!

The Old Look

I was never a big fan of the old barrel aged bottles (nor the “rarity” branding that they have on the bombers. It doesn’t pop the way I think it should. Let’s take a look at an example of the old label for Mushhushshu to see what I’m talking about.

I mean… it’s not horrible. It takes the look of their rarity bottles, and incorporates a barrel head into the artwork to let you know right away what you’re looking at. It also incorporates a little more information about vintage, and time in barrel, etc. That I can definitely get behind.

The New Look

Here’s where it looks like they’re heading with the bottles. Again… let’s take Mushhushshu to keep things even (plus it’s just really fun to say out loud as I’m writing…. Mushhushshu).

This design doesn’t even begin to describe how beautiful these bottles are just from the label. I enjoyed it just with the neon colors, but when I realized that the neon is actually metallic ink… holy hell. Here – take a look from this picture that the brewery posted on their instagram:

Right? Freaking gorgeous. They take the look of a whiskey bottle, and really roll with it. I’m blown away. Mushhushhu is the first to drop, and you’ll start seeing it later this month. So keep your eyes peeled!
