As Urban Artifact has kept growing and evolving as a brewery, they’ve figured a few things out about themselves, and really owned them. One of these is the brilliant ability of their beers to tap into the food and beer pairing world. This epicurean delightfulness of their brews has spawned a series of Epicurean beers, as well as events that have the ability to blow the minds of drinkers who attend.
If you missed last year’s ‘Bon Vivant’ event around thanksgiving (and the bottle release that came along with it), you’re gonna wanna listen up to make sure that you have a fair shake at taking part in this year’s!
About The Festival
This festival isn’t your typical beer festival, and I hope that you understand that. Urban Artifact doesn’t mess around when they say they are doing something “differently” – I’m sure that you do understand that by now.
The event takes place on Wednesday, November 27th – the night before Thanksgiving in what is quickly becoming a yearly tradition for those in the know. It kicks off at 5pm and runs until 9pm – Tickets are $55 pre-sale and $65 at the door (You can get your tickets online here) and include some pretty sweet perks:
- Unlimited pairing sample tickets (food+beer)
- A commemorative tasting glass
- Access to buy the Epicurean beers to-go, before they go on sale in the taproom.
- A chance to meet and greet brewers and chefs
- The recipe cards for each pairing
In addition to that – the first 100 people to buy tickets also get a complementary bottle of Blackberry Pie and Coffee ala Mode. This is the only way to get access to this beer. #Exclusive
The festival itself is set up with eight unique beer and food pairings that were created specifically for the event. The brewery has partnered up with food truck chefs that came up with brand new dishes that were specifically designed to pair up with and accentuate the flavors of the new Epicurean beers that are being released in conjunction with the festival.
Urban Artifact’s brewers Josh and Nic have been busting their asses tasting, cooking, infusing, blending and tasting some more to make sure that the beers are fantastic.
The Beers
The Epicurean beers are literally built for food, and inspired by the breweries favorite chefs and dishes. They are intentional in the best sense of the word. When you combine the beer with food they become a harmonious and cohesive duo – it’s not a chance “happy pairing” – it’s made to be that way. The beers blur the line and push the boundaries of what this whole “beer thing” can be like.
The beers each retail for $14.99, and like I mentioned before, if you get tickets to the event, you get first crack at the release before they hit the taproom for sales. The releases this year are:
- Cranberry
- Cranberry Chutney
- Arugula and Endive Salad
- Pineapple Brulee
- Strawberry Sorbetto
- Mangonada (Mango con chile y limon)
- Blackberry Pie and Coffee
- Blackberry Pie and Coffee ala mode (first 100 presale tickets only)
- Cocoa-Covered Plantain
The Food
Like I’ve been trying to tell you – this event is about beer and food, as equal partners in the spotlight. Urban Artifact has partnered up with 8 different food trucks to provide the dishes that pair up with the beers.
- Mahope – Chef Vy
- Bistro de Mohr – Trudy Mohr
- Wildfire Pizza Kitchen – Jordan Norris and Nichole Menchen
- Pretzelfuls – James and Lauren Akers
- New Orleans To Go – Chef L
- Renegade Street Eats – Kris Buening
- Empanadas Aqui – Brett Johnson
- Wicked Hickory – Todd Drennen
