Even in the midst of the craziness, Montgomery Public House is rolling along with their plans to bring a new craft beer spot to folks in downtown Montgomery. They received their brewing license and starting brewing their beer at the tail end of April, and have now announced that they’ll open their doors for you to get a pint starting on Friday, May 22nd.

That’s right – even with the current craziness, our list of local breweries keeps on growing!!

Not What Anyone Expected

This is always a long road for anyone who decides to open the doors of their very own brewery – the ups and downs are always crazy, but to open in the middle of this insane shutdown? I can’t even begin to imagine.

I am really happy to see that this project was able to stay focused (and actually stay pretty close to on track) in the midst of it all – the timing worked out pretty good with them starting up the brewhouse on 4/30, lining them up for their “semi grand opening” on 5/22, albeit at a smaller scale than I’m sure anyone wanted it to be.

The brewery will open up their bar area and their patio for business, giving you the first peek what what they’ve built out. From what I’ve seen they’ve created a comfortable, modern space that will be perfect for both after work happy hours as well as weekend lunch and dinners with the family.

MPH Food

The food side of things at MPH is familiar to anyone who enjoys a laid back family type of brewpub. They’ll have pizza and some “bar-type appetizers” for you and your group (when we’re allowed to be in groups again… stupid virus). The pizzas are 12″ brick oven baked pizzas, including a gluten free option with cauliflower crust.

Upon opening, their appetizer menu will consist of just a couple of things, a salad and chips and salsa – but rest assured as things keep growing and processing, you’ll see that menu fill out, I’m sure.

Montgomery Public House Beer

Here’s where my ears always perk up – as much as I love food, beer is almost always my favorite part of going somewhere – and Montgomery Public House has filled their taps with a full-lineup to try to please any palate. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Monty’s
    • IPA – 7% – 70 IBUs
    • Easy drinking IPA with earthy hops.
  • Daily Double
    • Double IPA – 8.5% – 119 IBUs
    • Strong and hoppy. Hop Forward, hop middle, and hop finish.
  • Arm’s Length
    • Light Ale – 5.5% – 19 IBUs
    • European light ale with no conflict of interest.
  • Skinny Jeans
    • Extra Light Ale – 3.85% – 14 IBUs
    • American extra light ale. Just the right fit for a light sip.
  • Remington Gold
    • Golden Ale – 7.25% – 25 IBUs
    • Slightly hopped. It won’t Pierce the palate.
  • Lancaster
    • English Strong Ale – 8.2% – 59 IBUs
    • A big payload of balanced hops and roasted malt.
  • Napoleon’s Revenge
    • Belgian Tripel – 9% – 30 IBUs
    • Strong but subtle, this classic keeps marching.

It’s a great blend of high and low abv options… big flavor bombs and light, easy sipping “easy” beers. I can’t wait to get my hands on a few pints!

Like I mentioned above, the opening is official – May 22nd. Head out, give them a little support – and keep your eye on social media as things keep getting a little closer to what we want “normal” to be like… this place is going to be hoppin’ as the weather keeps warming up!
