It’s been requested, begged of them, pleaded over and over by their fans on this side of the river. When is Braxton opening a Cincinnati taproom? Well… we’ve got our answer, finally. Braxton’s Cincinnati taproom is opening in Pendleton this fall after they take over the former Three Points space.
Wait… what? Three Points is closed?
It’s been rumored, and talked about in the beer geek circles for a little while now, but not formally announced by the brewery. In the middle of the current chaos, 3 Points is now confirmed as the official second brewery casualty in 2020 after the closing of Rock Bottom earlier this year.
The group that operated Three Points (Hickory Wald) is reported to have closed the space to focus on their other restaurant operations (they operate Nation bar and grill) and focus those efforts more tightly to better run those spaces. In Braxton’s press release they made a pretty big point to let us know that both Hickory Wald as well as Braxton are both excited to see that the 3 Points space will continue on as a brewery with the larger idea and plans for Pendleton still holding true to their vision.
This is about continuing a revitalization process that was started 2 years ago – carrying on a torch and putting a proven winner into a spot that they can thrive in a community that is ready to continue to support them – in a much easier way.
About The New Space
This new Braxton taproom will mark the first time that a Cincinnati Brewery has managed to open multiple taprooms in different states, and solidifies the next stage in Braxton’s evolution at the same time.
The new space will take ideas from their current three locations and wrap them into one cohesive idea that’s being branded simply ‘Braxton Brewing Company – Cincinnati’ – it’s obviously going to harken back to the beginning for Braxton Brewing Company with plenty of nods to their origin in the garage, but it should feel plenty refreshed and reinvigorated at the same time.
What This Means For The City
Things have been a little on the depressing side this year, to say the least. It’s been hard for businesses, drinkers, beer fans, and everyone in between and at times it’s hard to see the positive side of things. Braxton is pouring a big “glass half full” of beer for us right now, showing us that the future still exists and that they aren’t done investing in Cincinnati beer, and building what Braxton is in that bigger picture.
The brewery has gone through its fair share of difficulties in the middle of the current crisis and has kept pushing forward during it all. I can only hope that this move and growth inspires some of the people who have been having a hard time seeing the road in front of them to do the same.
When Does It Open?
The brewery is in no rush on this. Regardless of the positivity that the news brings, its no secret that the industry is shaky right now. They are already into the process of rebranding and reinvigorating the space, but aren’t expecting things to be ready until likely after Labor Day.
