I love local beer… I always have. But 2020 has turned my hobby into an absolute obsession (if it wasn’t already). I have been consumed with trying to support the places that I love as much as possible, and as we work our way through our holiday shopping lists this year – it directly translates into where I spend my money. I hope that you are as obsessively shopping locally as I am.

Sam Adams has some pretty sweet options for you to fill that space under the tree for the folks that you love the most, while still feeling good about supporting one of your local taprooms. You can shop online, or in their taproom during their holiday hours – but here’s what you need to be paying attention to:

Beer

This goes without saying, right? If you’ve got a beer lover on your list, it’s hard to go wrong with a couple of crowlers of their favorite (or their new favorite unbeknownst to them) beer. I have read lately that some folks are big fans of ‘513’ and have been wanting to get your giant hands on it… well… go to the taproom and get a crowler. Bonus points here because a crowler will look like a normal can in those mitts. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s a post on October about one of our local beer geeks, who has massive hands…)

If you decide to snag a crowler of their winter lager, it even comes with a free winter lager glass with it!

The brewery still has gift backs of their Stoutopias/Barleytopias/KMF Grand Cru for sale too… which are three absolutely awesome beers that will not only be tasty today, but if you stash them away in the cellar will age gracefully for a nice long time, too.

Swag

To stick with the Christmas theme… Sam Adams has their online (and taproom) stores filled to the brim with some really great collectible, limited edition stuff. They have tipsy elf socks… tipsy elf koozie mittens (you’re gonna need these if you spend any time on a taproom patio this winter…) and a really freaking sweet Sam Adams Rookwood pint ornament (those are in the taproom only).

If you’re looking for something that is a little less seasonal – they of course have all their standard swag available, too. From hats to shirts to glassware, there’s a ton of stuff that you could pick up.

Holiday Hours

If you’re looking to pick up an order, or have a pint on their patio (remember how I told you that you’d need those mittens?) they have updated their pickup and patio hours. You can visit them:

  • Friday – 11am-7pm
  • Saturday – 11am-7pm
  • Sunday – 11am-6pm

The brewery reached out to me recently to offer up some Winter lager… so I’m gonna be hitting up the taproom to snag some. Keep your eyes over on my YouTube page, because we’re gonna give it a taste together, just in case you haven’t had it before! Stay tuned! As always, if you want to stay up to date on all of the happenings down at the Sam Adams Taproom, you should follow them on their social media!
