As if I really needed another reason to tell you how insane Hamilton, Ohio is getting – Third Eye made a big announcement yesterday with the news that they are going to open up their second location, a big production space and taproom right on Route 4.
I first started hearing rumblings about this a few months back, but I thought there was no way that this great news could be real – a former Pepsi bottling plant? That’s BIG. It’s as real as real can be, though, and the city of Hamilton broke the news to an excited group of folks at their midterm state of the city address.
The New Space
When I tell you that this is a big expansion, I want to make sure that you understand just how big it is. Their current taproom space is a hair under 3,000 square feet (to give you a sense of size) and this new location will bring more than 10,000 square feet of production space into the fold.
The brewery who’s production is currently around 2,000bbls will skyrocket to the 10,000bbl range (with room to grow). They are planning for the future, and not messing around with this.
The new space will not just house production space for the brewery, along with a 30bbl brewhouse, but it will of course feature a taproom, private event space, a covered outdoor patio and a full kitchen like they’ve embraced in their current location.
If that’s not enough to get your heart beating a little faster – they’re even going to have a lower level space tucked in there for barrel-aging projects.
When Can You Celebrate?
Don’t start jumping in your car quite yet – the taproom isn’t expected to open until early 2023 – it takes a little while to create a 3.1 million dollar project like this. It doesn’t just happen overnight!
If you can’t help but start celebrating a little bit early, you’re in luck. Third Eye and Municipal Brew Works teamed up with a collaboration beer that they’re calling ’Route 4 Revive-Ale’ – it’s a NE IPA which they started selling last night during the announcement. They’re pretty pumped about getting another brewery in town, and I can’t say that I blame them.
This is gonna be pretty awesome!
