I haven’t always talked about anniversary parties in the past as much as I feel like I probably should have. It used to be a huge deal. The idea that we could have a brewery here in Cincinnati that was several years old was wild to think about. It started to become commonplace, though. It became background noise to all the other stuff that was happening on a day-to-day basis, but if 2020 and 2021 taught me anything it’s that we should appreciate some of this stuff that had a tendency to get shuffled aside before.
A five-year anniversary, like the one that Grainworks is gearing up to celebrate, is a big deal. At the least, it’s worth taking note of – and at the best… it’s worth clearing a space on your calendar to help celebrate with them.
The Down and Dirty Details
Let’s start with the good stuff. When, Where, How? If you want to celebrate with Grainworks, it’s easy to do. Just show up at their West Chester taproom September 9-11th for a big – FREE – music festival that is looking like it’s going to be a freaking blast.
The event will go from 3 pm-midnight on Friday, 11 am-midnight on Saturday, and from noon until 8 pm on Sunday. They’re going to fill the brewery’s taproom, the patio, and even the employee parking lot behind the building with special beer tapping, food trucks, live music, and more.
It’s going to be family-friendly, it’s going to be fun… I hope you’re paying attention!
This Year’s Theme
The event will be centered around what the brewery says are the five essential elements. Earth, Wind, Fire, Water… and Beer!
You’ll find multiple event-exclusive beers that are being tapped throughout the weekend – as well as a bunch of old favorites on tap and to-go. Starting things off on Friday (and available all weekend) you’ll find:
- What’s In The Middle – Cookies & Cream Milk Stout
- Experimental IPA with Lime & Agave
- Overfruited Berliner Weisse with Pineapple, Mango, Orange & Cherry
- Tropical Poundsign Nofilter Juicy IPA with Tropical Fruit Added.
In addition, there will be some stuff tapping Friday that won’t last long… these limited brews are available while they last!:
- Bagpipes of Bardstown (2020) Wee Heavy aged in Willett Bourbon and Rye Barrels
- Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Motor Oil (2018) Russian Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels
- Pina Colada Dreams Wheat Ale w/ Pineapple, Coconut, Vanilla, and Lactose
- Orange Dreams Wheat Ale w/ Orange, Vanilla, and Lactose
The Music
At the core of this event (other than beer), it’s definitely about music. The brewery is billing it as a music festival, which means that you know they’re going to go all out to make sure that they’ve got some major talent represented. Four local bands will be rocking out all weekend to keep the party moving:
Friday Night starts out with the Monte Lykins Band and ends up with The Cassette Junkies. On Saturday The Brock & Jon Music Show opens things up for Dat Band who will wrap up the night.
