I’m a nut for a great lager beer. The list of reasons why is long (listen to this lager roundtable episode of Cincy Brewcast to get a little peek). At the core of it, though, lager is the perfect combination of brewing science and the process of actually drinking. Drinkability is a word that has been thrown around, and the meaning can be hard to understand by different folks, but I’ll still use it to express one of the things about lager that I love. Hearing this it shouldn’t come as a surprise, then, that the news of Braxton’s new lager (Spur) excites me.

For literally decades, this city has been craving more great, year-round, lager beers. Cincinnati is a city with lager beer in its blood – and Braxton has understood that from the very beginning.

About The New Beer

Spur is an Amber lager, built to meet the changing needs of craft beer consumers perfectly. The brewery designed this one to be lighter, and a no-nonsense, easy drinker. While announcing the beer, they went out of their way to say that it’s a beer that can take drinkers back to the moment they originally fell in love with craft beer.

This is one of those beers that pair up with a nice dinner just as well as it does an afternoon watching sports.

I’m all for it, and so freaking excited to give it a try!

Getting Your Hands On Spur

Spur will be available in mid-march all over Braxton’s distribution footprint – in all your favorite beer stores that you know carry Braxton’s products, as well as in their taprooms and on their website, too.

If you want to get the first experience of what Spur is all about, the brewery is hosting a ‘State Fair’ tapping event in their Covington taproom on 3/25/23 and it’s sounding like this event is going to be pretty incredible.

The brewery is hosting a Wild West experience on their rooftop complete with a mechanical bull and more… they should have a bit more details about the event coming out this week (and I’ll try to get this updated as soon as I can with more!)

In the meantime, mark your calendar and start getting yourself excited about this new addition to the Braxton lineup!
