Humble Monk Finds A New Home!

Fans of Humble Monk were understandably nervous when the brewery announced in early May that it was in a not-so-fun predicament: losing its current brewery and taproom space in Northside. They were going to have to move, and at that point, they weren’t really sure where it would be moving to.

Luckily for all of us, they just announced this week that a new location has been found and that it won’t be too far away!

Why This Was Bad News For So Many People

There are a lot of different types of breweries here in Cincinnati. That’s one of the things that makes this city so much fun for beer drinkers. Regardless of what type of space or beer you’re looking for, what you’re looking for exists somewhere around town.

The problem is that Humble Monk is very much a neighborhood brewery. They thrive because the folks who live around them support them as much as they possibly can (that’s not to take anything away from those of us who don’t live nearby). When a brewery like this is forced to move, it’s easy for it to be a death blow.

The price of opening up a small taproom in Northside is drastically different than when Humble Monk opened their doors. There were a lot of folks understandably afraid that they’d have to move their taproom out of the place that they’ve called home since 2019 (actually, much longer if you count the time they were in the building trying to get their doors open).

Luckily… they’re staying close!

The New Location

Humble Monk reached out to its mailing list this week with the good news that it has found a new taproom space at 4100 Colerain Ave. The new location is literally just down the street from its current space.

This new building is just shy of 10,000 square feet and sits on a little more than an acre of property with a large parking lot on one side and a small gravel lot on the other. It’s a historic house built in 1890 and oozes character—a definite change from their current warehouse taproom space.

While they don’t have an estimated opening date yet and haven’t let us know how they plan to use the space for their taproom and brewery – the building is currently split up into some office space and then a large hall in the back. The hall is what I assume will become a large taproom for them to spread out and replicate the vibe that we already know and love.

In The Meantime…

While we don’t know when the new taproom will open, the current space at 1641 Blue Rock Street is open until 6/22/24. The brewery will certainly experience a transition period, which means that your support means everything to them right now.

I can’t say it any blunter, and clearly enough: If you love your local breweries and want to see them succeed, you have to show up and support them whenever you can. This is true not just for Humble Monk but for everyone.
