Tropical, Citrus, Bright

American IPA… It’s a style that showcases exactly what our craft brewers did to a beer style that had been around for a very long time in England beforehand. We took a decidedly malty style and hopped it up into a bitter, stronger, bolder beer. It’s a showcase of one of the things that started the craft beer revolution – in a glass.

Clare, specifically, is a beer that was brewed with the winner of a “Make A Beer” prize at The Cure Starts Now Gala. Jeremy Ronnebaum made a beer in honor of his 10-year-old niece. She loves turtles, she loves the color yellow… and she might not know it, but brewing a beer like this represents a whole other side of craft beer. Community, love, and support make me want to drink more of it, and it makes it feels great when I do.

HighGrain Clare Tasting Notes

Clare is bright, it’s clear, yellow, and showcases a big, slightly off-white head on top. Aromas of bright citrus leap out of the glass.

The taste starts with a bitter bite, which then leans into tropical and citrus fruit,s finishing with a softness that balances it out beautifully. It’s hard to create a balanced beer that is still hoppy and bitter, and yet somehow HighGrain nailed it on this one.

Wonderful beer… it stands out strongly in a world of lame, mediocrity that people are calling IPAs.
