When the annoucement for Warped Wing’s Mason taproom hit my inbox, and they finally got their doors open in 2022, to say I was thrilled was an understatement. I’d already become familiar with their barrel house spot in Springboro, and I’d fallen in love with their food menu the same way that I’d fallen in love with their beer years before. The space that they took over in Mason is a special one, too – the former home of an incredible Irish Pub called Brazenhead. When you have a place that is important to you, the desire to have someone carry the memory is a real one, and Warped Wing has done a great job with it.
When you walk up to the building, you first see the large metal entrance that looks like an airplane hangar. Walking through the doors you hit a small greeting area (in case you have to wait for a table, or are swinging in to snag a six pack of beer to go) – the main space is open with lots of tables, with a large bar that sits on one side of the room overlooking their huge patio outside and the pond out in front of the building. The main dining room has tall ceilings, big windows and somehow feels both open and warm and cozy at the same time. They did an incredible job with it.
There’s event space both upstairs and downstairs in the building with plans to turn the downtairs into a more lower key, relaxed pub atmosphere some day.
The menu is identical to their other taproom locations, with a fantastic barbecue menu. Circling around the menu, and the space you end up with a location that has ingrained itself into the community that they opened in. Mason has adopted them as not just a place to grab a meal, but as a place that is a core piece of Mason itself.
