Brewery- The Old Firehouse
Beer- Code 3
ABV- 5.2%
IBU- 18
A well balanced, decidedly delicious, malt forward copper color red ale, with a dry roasted finish. Brewed with primary base malt maris otter, along with select malts crystal 120, crystal 40, munich, chocolate and roasted barley along with a hop blend of warrior, uk progress and willamette.
This was a beer that I’d passed over in the taproom so many times, and now that it’s available in cans so close to home, I’ve found myself falling back in love with it.
When you pour it into your glass, you’ll be blessed with a stunner… beautiful copper colored with a creamy light head sitting on top, you get a slight hint of earthiness from the aroma, but nothing overpowering.
The taste of Code 3 is a delicious journey…it starts in the earthiness and a light tastiness that ventures into a bready malt with a hint of smokiness to it. At the end of your taste your hit with just a quick punch of fruitiness from the hops that clean it all up and leave your palate begging for another sip. This is a wonderful beer, and I can’t implore you any more not to pass it up…wether you find yourself in your favorite bottle shop, or belly up to their bar in the taproom.
