Con el sol en los ojos, no veíamos bien, pero tú estas más cerca de él en este momento que la mayoría de la gente tendrá la suerte de estar.
Wait, sorry about that.
The sun was in our eyes and we did not get a good look, but you are closer to him right now than most will ever have the good fortune to be.
Who is El Sully? Grab a can of this Mexican-Style lager, head to the nearest beach, even if it’s imagined, and perhaps he’ll come to you.
Light beers have gotten a bad wrap. When you even say the word, you immediately think of cheap, light flavored macro swill that was force fed to us for so long. This is not that type of light.
This beer is named after the alter ego of one of the founders of 21st Amendments, Sean O’Sullivan. He crafted this beer to remind him of the crisp Mexican lagers that he used to enjoy on the hot summer days of his youth. Not heavy, not bitter, not complicated, and not ashamed of that in slightest.
The beer first started popping up in the new variety packs released by the brewery in the fall of 2015, now making its way into it’s own package format, and hopefully into your home for those times when you just want something light… and light it is, in such a great way.
My Thoughts on 21st Amendment El Sully
This pours into the glass just like a thousand beers that you’ve had before. It’s crisp, yellow, fizzy, with a smallish white head on top. It looks like beer is “supposed” to look.
A sniff above your glass is the first hint, though, that somethings a little different with this one. There isn’t an overpowering hop aroma, like the IPAs the crowd the shelves might have. Instead it uses corn to bring a light cereal note to the party, with a crisp clean scent that reminds me of summer afternoons.
The beer tastes crisp, clean and well rounded. It’s got a bready… almost popcorn-like note that bashes up right next to a character that can only be described as refreshing. It’s clean finish begs for sunshine, and a full cooler of these… it’s great stuff.
