Brewery – Latitude 42
Beer – Lucifer’s Cuvée
Style – Chocolate Stout
ABV – 8.4%
Dangerously devastating, Lucifer’s Cuvée is our Double Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. Intense hearty rye, along with a decadent gourmet chocolate essence, are balanced by the addition of Cascade hops.
This beer is big, bold, and stands out on the shelf as well as in the glass. From the very appearance of the can on the shelf, you know that this is something that’s going to have some personality.
The label design is bright, bold and speaks volumes to the personality of the beer. The artwork was done by Joshua Gerics, a tattoo artist at Electric Chair Tattoo in Bay City, MI. It was the first design that they brewery commissioned him to do, and they loved it so much, that you’ll now see his work on all their labels.
The boldness doesn’t stop there, though. In the glass, this beer takes no prisoners.
My Thoughts on Latitude 42 Lucifer’s Cuvée
Boldness. I think I’ve mentioned it a couple times, but that’s the best description. By looks alone, you have a hard time seeing what this beer holds in store. It’s dark brown color holds a small tan head, but aromas of deep cocoa powder and coffee lift from the top of the glass almost immediately.
The flavor is big, warm and slightly boozy. You’ll find plenty of cocoa powder, but if you dig in a little deeper, you’ll find notes of chocolate and a roastiness that seems to fill the mouth with flavor.
This beer is delicious. Obviously dessert-like is the easy way to describe it, but it’s so much more. If you’re a fan of chocolate in your beer, this is one you need to seek out if it is distributed in your area (which as of writing this is Ohio and Michigan).
