Brewery – Listermann
Beer – Brass Monkey
Style – NE IPA
ABV – 7%
East Coast IPA brewed with Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, and Mosaic.
For the very first can release from Listermann Brewing company, they certainly made a lot of waves. This hazy NE-style IPA is packed full of fruity flavors that will please anyone who is even a casual fan of the style.
The day of this release saw a line wrapped all the way down the street full of people eager to get their hands on something that people have called one of the best beers of it’s kind in the city. It was crazy, and worthy of it all too. True to their own style, Listermann couldn’t settle with just releasing this one beer and being happy, they had to put a variant out as well, with Brass Monkey Junkie – which is the same beer but with Mangos added to the party.
My Thoughts On Listermann Brass Monkey
Not too surprising, this beer is hazy in the glass. Looking much like a glass of juice, it’s given away by the thick white head on top.
Aromas are fruity – with citrus dominating the aroma. It’s living up to the juice here too.
The taste is big – soft and fruity. The softness in the mouthfeel leads to a taste the coats the inside of your mouth, and lingers for long enough to satisfy but leave you wanting another sip desperately. This beer is hyped for sure… but it’s worthy of it – it’s really delicous and gets me pretty excited about what other beers in the same style we’ll see out of Listermann.
