Keep the cans coming, Cincinnati! I love having new things to go along with the “old standby’s” in my beer fridge every week. It looks like Moerlein is going to help me out with it by putting out their newest creation ‘Pacer’ in cans to help fill the void in my cold box.
What’s Pacer Anyways?
Christian Moerlein is throwing an event on February 4th – it’s their second annual ‘Firkin Fest’. They fill the Malt House taproom with Frinkins from all their favorite breweries and tap some of the most unique, and one-off beers that you’ll see.
On top of all that, this year they are also using the event to release their newest pale ale, called Pacer (if you hadn’t figured that out). The beer is a Citra Hopped pale ale, coming in at 5% ABV, and 40 IBUs.
The event will feature some limited release firkins featuring the new beer as well – so it’s a fun chance to not only try it for the first time, but try a few neat one-off versions of it as well.
The Can
It’s fun to see this coming through even before the first tapping of the beer. It hopefully means that pretty quickly afterwards we’ll start seeing this in stores (though we never have guarantees for that with label approvals). The label tells us a little bit more about what we can expect from the beer:
Pacer Citra Pale Ale packs an explosive punch of citrus aromatics, and notes of tropical fruit backed by an easy drinking pale body. Slight herbal notes are complimented by a burst of grapefruit and melon from an abundant dry-hopping of Citra hops, creating a pale ale that sets the pace.
I don’t think I need to remind you about how nuts people get over Citra hops. I anticipate then, that this will be a crowd pleaser for sure, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
