Brewery – Listermann
Beer – Babycat Meowface
Style – NE IPA
ABV – 8.1%

New England Double IPA brewed with Mosaic, El Dorado, and Centennial with Sauvignon Blanc grape juice added.

Listermann is not only putting out some really great NE IPAs here in Cincinnati, they also seem to love to explore every aspect of the style.  This version of a NE IPA takes a twist by adding grape juice to the mix, creating an extra piece of the flavor puzzle to the mix.

The beer was released alongside Sabotage on June 3rd, 2017 to a crowd of waiting beer geeks, lined up around the block.  It’s also part of the line up of beers that jumps from the hip hop references into the world of pets.  Babycat is head brewer Jared’s cat… immortalized on the can.

This release was also the first in which Listermann paired up with local non-profit ‘Elementz’ for all of their can releases going forward, to give back to the community.

My Thoughts On Listermann Babycat Meowface

This pours a nice hazy golden yellow color… maybe even a bit of an orange, into my glass.  A thick white head sits on top for quite a while.

The aromas are citrusy and fruity, with a slight floral note as well.

The taste is sweet and fruity.  There is a solid Pineapple flavor sitting alongside citrusy fruits and a light doughy malt flavor.  I’m liking this one a lot, and the use of grape juice only adds a new dimension to the beer, it doesn’t overpower anything at all.  I’m a big fan of this one.
