Thank you for purchasing our first bottle release. We know you will enjoy our smooth, dark, malty classic. This is our Russian Imperial Stout, aged in locally sourced whiskey barrels for 6 months. Serve at room temperature with abundant food and friends.
If you are regular listener to Cincy Brewcast you might remember Volume 3 Episode 21 where we set up shop at Paradise Brewing Company for this release. If you don’t though, the first thing you have to notice about this first bottle release from Paraise Brewing is the little hat on the bottle.
I freaking love it.
The bottles were released from Paradise’s taproom on 11/18/2017 and the 477 bottles sold out pretty quickly – so if you don’t have some of this stashed in your cellar, you might want to make friends with someone who does. The beer is an Imperial Stout that spent time inside some 10 year old whiskey barrels before turning into one of my favorite Imperial Stouts that has been released in Cincy so far. If you want to read a little bit more about the bottles, or the release please do – otherwise… let’s talk about the beer.
My Thoughts On Paradise Wrath of the Tsar
Inky black in the glass, with a thick, but light brown head on top. This beer looks like pure heaven.
The aromas that hit you from the moment you pour it are sweet boozy whiskey. There is a touch of smoke in the nose that I really like.
The flavor is big. The booziness is tamed down, with chocolate and more of that touch of smoke before a lingering whiskey finish swirls at the end. The texture of the beer comes off as big, heavy and chewy. This is a really, really fantastic Imperial Stout, and one of my favorite things that Paradise has ever brewed.
