Cincinnati’s German tradition brings with it big beers, and plenty of people to enjoy them with. Whether in the taprooms of Middletown or behind… we mean in… the bars of Newport. It’s always a story worth telling over a pint. This traditional bock is malty, smooth and bready with caramel notes.

Where to even start with this beer? Figleaf reached out to me with this idea to make a beer that centers around a certain story of mine… you know the one. Of course, I had to agree. This one is really brilliantly done. The artwork takes a little spin on my Gnome logo and intertwines it with a goat.

I love Bock beer, or really any good malty german lager, and this one is the perfect beer to use paired up with the story.

Huge thanks to everyone at Figleaf for making this one come to life. I love it.

My Thoughts on That One Time, In Newport

In the glass, this beer is orange-copper colored, with a thin tan head on top.

Aromas are caramel, bread, and maybe a touch of fruit hidden away behind it all.

The beer is smooth, definitely malty with a rich caramel note that layers through slight notes of fruitiness. It’s big but isn’t too big to knock back a few of in a sitting. Really nicely done bock – I’m proud to have this one in my fridge!
