If you’ve been waiting to head down to Bircus to see what they’re all about until you get a chance to try some of their beer, you’re in luck. They are about to get a little easier for you to snag a pint, as this month they are making the jump across the river, and starting their distribution in Ohio.

It all kicks off with a big party at Cincinnati’s oldest bar, Arnold’s on Saturday.

The Release Party

It all goes down this Saturday, October 5th starting at 8pm.  If you haven’t been there before, Arnold’s is located on 8th street.  The historic bar is a real Cincinnati landmark and is one of those places that you need to stop into every once in a while just to show your respect… so, this seems like it would be the perfect opportunity!

The event will feature live party music from Lagniappe, who does Cajun-style music that will entertain you as much as the circus acts will.  That’s right, this is the official launch of Bircus in Ohio, so you know that the circus performers will be out entertaining the masses too!

As if you need another reason, executive chef Kayla Robison will be cooking up some special circus themed dinner specials too that will pair nicely with the Bircus beer that will be flowing from the taps.

We should talk about that beer…

Beer!

Bircus will be sending 7 of their beers, including a limited release paw-paw beer that I’m dying to get my hands on.  They’ll have:

  • Kilpatrick’s One Legged Irish Stout – Irish Dry Stout, 4% ABV – Everyone needs a good stout in their lineup and Bircus is no exception.  In the land of peanut butter, ice cream, candy canes and who even knows what will go into a stout next, they developed a straight forward, bold and traditional Dry Irish Stout recipe.
  • Lud-Lite Blonde Ale – Blonde, 4% ABV – This beer was crafted with gluten removed to give those with sensitivities an option among the beers available.  It’s light, easy drinking and will please those who may  not be craft beer geeks like the rest of us.
  • Comic Walrus – Cranberry-Ginger Goldean Ale, 4.5% ABV – This ale has a crisp cranberry snap, followed by a slight ginger finish.  Perfect for the holidays but so refreshing it’s enjoyable all year long.
  • Showman IPA – American IPA, 6.8% ABV – Unapoligetically aggressive, their IPA uses a variety of hops to create a blend of nuances that range from earthy to fruity to white wine.  A neutral house yeast keeps the background soft to ensure this beer stays hop forward from start to finish.
  • Lagoon – Scotch Wee Heavy, 7% ABV – Six kinds of grain bring out a complex character in this scotch ale.  Chinook hops offset the sweetness while keeping the beer malty and smooth.
  • Shoot The Chutes – Blood Orange Double IPA, 8.6% ABV – Brewed with blood oranges and a hearty grain bill supported by flaked oats and lactose, our first DIPA drinks dangerously easy.  This beer was dry hopped with nearly 4lbs per barrel of Mosaic, El Dorado and Amarillo further accentuating the citrus character.
  • Paw Paw Shoot The Chutes – Paw Paw Double IPA – This one off infusion isn’t something you’ll see everywhere, and it’s only available for a very limited amount of time (it’s hard to get those paw paws while they’re fresh!!)

So – as you can see, they’re gonna make it worth your while!  Get out, support local beer, say hello to Bircus and welcome them over here on the Ohio side.  They’re certainly planning on giving you a little taste of who they are and why their taproom has won over so many fans already.
