I worded the title of this post like it’s a rumor, or some kind of question – but it’s not. I have on good authority (meaning I asked) that Municipal Brew Works in Hamilton is prepping a Big Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout just as the weather is switching over and bringing on the cold.
This Imperial Stout is called Natasha, and was split aged in Double Oaked Woodford Reserve and Basil Hayden barrels. The two barrels were then blended back together and the result, I’m being told, is deceptively smooth for a big 10% stout.
You should probably pay attention to Municipal’s social media so that you are notified of when this one drops. They’re saying that it should be within the next few weeks, though… and you know I’ll give you a shout right here when it is ready!
Catching Up With Municipal
In other news… if you’re looking for more reasons to head out to Hamilton to make a stop at Municipal, you should note that they also recently brought back their Recovery Red. This is a beer that won a silver medal at the 2018 US Open Beer Championship and has won over quite a few fans in their taproom. It’s a big 9% Winter Warmer… again – perfect for the cold weather that I’m really, really not enjoying.
If you’re looking for something a little lower octane, the brewery has plenty on tap – and they also just finished up canning four of their beers – back again is Approachable Blonde, Orange Agave and Scout IPA and this time they’re joined by their Midnight Cut Porter, too.
Also… in production space news… I’m sure you’ve read a few news articles in the past 6 months or so about them opening up a production facility. I promise you that when there’s some news on this front, you’ll read about it right here. They’re still searching for the perfect spot to open up, and when they find it, I’ll let you know!
For now… go. Drink!
