Brewery – Braxton
Beer – Graeter’s Black Cherry Chocolate Chip White Stout
Style – White Stout
ABV – 7.4%
IBU – 30
This decadent dessert beer is crafted in perfect harmony with notes of Lucious black cherries and creamy dark chocolate. An indulgent, medium-bodied white stout, delightfully reminiscent of the classic chocolate covered cherry.
The name might be a mouthful… Black Cherry, Chocolate Chip, White Stout… but the mouthful of the beer itself makes this one all worth it. Braxton and Graeter’s have come together again for a real winner with this release, and it continues to push the collaboration series higher and higher.
The beer is set to be released on February, 28th 2020, and is the first of three collaborations between the two companies for the year. It’s also the first time that the Graeter’s/Braxton series has seen 16oz cans in a four-pack… the move to pints bringing an extra 16oz of beer to the release for you to take home.
My Thoughts On Braxton Graeter’s Black Cherry Chocolate Chip White Stout
In my glass, this one pours a nice clear, dark ruby red color. The head fades away quickly – before you get a lot of time to enjoy its light tan foamy appearance.
Aromas fire off in every direction – with chocolate being the dominant one that I get from a distance. As I get a little closer to the glass the rich cherry that lingers in the background starts to show through.
The beer tastes like a wonderful chocolate covered cherry. Rich chocolate hits for a split second before you’re blasted with the bright sweet cherries. As the flavor drifts off, left behind it a wonderful chocolate aftertaste, and tingling carbonation. A little trace of bitterness sits right on the top of my mouth. This beer is a journey – and a really great one at that.
Disclaimer: This beer was a gift from Braxton, and while that doesn’t ever change my opinions on a beer, you should be aware… all it means is that when someone gives me something I’m going to probably talk about it!
