Drinking is all about the people you’re with, and also the situations that you find yourself in. The drinks themselves are awesome and certainly important… but it’s not the heart of why this has all become a big part of society as a whole. When you find yourself in that perfect place, with the right folks… it all ‘clicks’ and comes together into some kind of drinking Nirvana… you just sort of know it when it happens, and these moments ingrain themselves into your memory forever. March First understands this, and is throwing a massive 4th of July party to celebrate the summer that I have a feeling will be the absolute perfect place to hang out and have a beer.
About The Event
Tailgating party is the best way to describe this event. It’s not your typical taproom party with folks sitting at tables hanging out (though… the taproom and both of their patios are going to be open for you to do that). No, this event is a little different. The brewery is closing off their parking lot and encouraging their guests to bring their own chairs so that you and your friends can claim your spot and hang out all day.
All-day is right, too. The event starts on 7/4 at noon and rolls along all evening with food, music, beer – everything that you’d hope to find. To cap it all off, the evening will wrap up with the phenomenal Rozzi fireworks show that is put on by Sycamore Township, which you can see from the parking lot and the patio.
Details? Let’s talk.
Live Music
You knew that there wasn’t going to be a brewery throwing a tailgate party without some live music to keep things rolling… right? March First is bringing in a line up that will definitely do just that. The music starts at noon and it goes all day.
- 12-2pm – Chris Lee
- 3-5pm – Stoney Doperella
- 6-7:30 – Hayden Kaye
- 8:30pm – The Bronson Arroyo Band (yes… that Bronson Arroyo)
The Beer
Yeah, yeah, yeah – I know… you’re not going to go hang out a brewery party if there isn’t anything do drink. Not only does March First offer up a full tap lineup of beer, but they also have spirits, seltzers, cider… it’s a drinker’s playground. They wanted to kick things up another notch for this event, though, and are bringing in some friends to help satisfy you and your thirsty friends and family.
Grainworks, FigLeaf, Third Eye Brewing, and Montgomery Public House will all be set up in the parking lot in beer tents to serve up some of your longtime favorites alongside the new guys.
Drink tickets will be available for 5$ a piece and partial proceeds from each one go to the Sycamore Township Cemetery Endowment Fund and Sons of the American Revolution.
Food? Yeah… They’ll have food.
There is of course going to be March First’s pizza coming out of their kitchen all day, but like all aspects of this tailgate party – it’s not enough to make them happy. They’re also bringing in their friends from Red Sesame Korean BBQ and Vonderhaar’s catering… and have plans to possibly bring on some other vendors too.
The point of all this is pretty simple – get out your calendar, right now. Find July 4th and go ahead and draw a little March First flag in it… mark it out. You’re busy.
