Sycamore Distilling is the distillery side of March First Brewing, one of Cincinnati’s distilleries. They are a place that has become an absolute haven of drinking happiness for drinkers all across town. They are in the middle of a big expansion, with a new distillery/restaurant under construction in Milford. At the same time, they are dialing in their product line and bringing forth some really fun products that will start to round things out and fill some much-needed gaps, not just in their line, but in Cincinnati spirits in general.

From new bottles of spirits (gin, anyone?) to the focus of this post… ready to drink cocktails, which have been a vastly ignored segment in this city for far too long in my opinion. In July of 2020, they kicked things into a new gear and introduced the line, which we should chat about.

What Makes Them Different

The brewery/distillery put a lot of time and thought into this product line. It would have been easy to skip over it, though. They already produce beer, spirits, seltzers… it’s not like you need to also create ready to drink cocktails, right? The distillery was adamant that they push into a new category. They observed that many of the current RTD cocktails in the industry were of a specific variety. Most of them were seltzer-like (or actual seltzers) – towing the line or ignoring it altogether.

That is not at all what they’ve done.

These are authentic cocktails, the same that you’ll find in their taproom. You can drink them right from their cans, in a situation where things aren’t as “friendly” to drinking like normal – or you can pour them right into a glass, providing a more traditional drinking experience, too.

Sycamore’s Ready To Drink Cocktails

The canned cocktails retail for $13.99 a four-pack and clock in at 8% abv, and while there are currently three different canned cocktails (and one from their sister brewery, FigLeaf) – they are quick to point out that they aren’t done with cranking them out and are watching very closely for feedback as they make choices on what might be next. For now – here’s what you have:

  • Sycamore Bourbon and Cola
  • Voltage Vodka Electric Mule
  • Cooper Island Markoe Bay Mojito

As always, if you want to learn more about March First or Sycamore distilling you can visit the Sycamore website here, or follow them on social media!
