I knew that this Bourbon was going to be delicious – the base Bourbon is great, so I could only assume that if you stash it into a stout cask for a while, it would, well… stay good. What I didn’t realize is exactly how much this would change the Bourbon in some fun ways – but I’m getting ahead of myself. We should talk about what this is before we talk about what it tastes like.
The Bourbon was first released in the fall of 2019 with the intention of blending together the two sides of March First – brewery and distillery. It’s a match that is 100% made in heaven and creates a product that is unlike anything else that is being made in this city.

What I Think About Sycamore’s Stout Cask Bourbon
I was blown away by how delicious this Bourbon is. I get the argument from purists about not putting Bourbon into other barrels after it’s done… and why that is a whole other category – but that has literally nothing to do with how it tastes.
And it tastes good.
The Bourbon starts with a rush of rich caramel with a boozy bite to it. It’s big and bold and awesome – that immediately gets followed up by a smooth, malty richness that is just fantastic. It follows up that boldness near perfectly and rounds everything out so, so well. Mind blown.
