I won’t forget the first time I stopped into Moeller Brew Barn. We make a yearly (ish… you know how 2020 was…) trip up North to my wife’s hometown to spend a weekend and after hearing about a new brewery in Maria Stein – we had to stop on our way home. Moeller Brew Barn was fantastic. The space, and the people created a beautiful, relaxed destination that I’ve been preaching about ever since.
Once we could get their beer here in Cincy it became a little easier to tell people about them, because I could actually put a can of it in their hand – these folks are worth talking about, for sure… but as someone who struggles even keeping up with what’s going on here in town, it’s hard to branch out farther into Ohio at all.
This latest news though brings them so close to home that I can’t stay silent about it, it’s a move that not only makes them a little easier for us to visit – but that lifts Dayton up even more as a piece of the puzzle that makes this region an incredible place for beer.
The New Spot
This Dayton location will be Moeller Brew Barn’s third, after they expanded to Troy in the fall of 2019. The new spot will be located in the Water Street District near the Day Air Ballpark, and it looks like it’s going to be amazing. The new brewery will have three bars, an outdoor beer garden – and will brew on site… which I think is really, really important and the satellite taproom model becomes more and more popular.
They’re hoping that this taproom will be open by the spring of 2022 – just in time for the Dayton Dragons’ first home game of the season.
This new destination will provide yet another reason for us Cincinnatians to make a trip up to Dayton to grab a beer, some food and see exactly why we are so freaking lucky to live right here.
